The market for quads
With about 1.7 million possible combinations, 4-letter handles aren't mathematically exhausted like triples — but every word, name, and pronounceable combination was taken many years ago. What's on the market comes from collectors, not from registration.
That supply profile makes quads the most liquid tier of the rare-handle market: enough names exist for real price discovery, few enough that good ones appreciate.
What separates a $3,000 quad from a $40,000 one
Three multipliers: meaning (a dictionary word beats a random string tenfold), pronounceability (if it works said aloud, it works as a brand), and age (2010–2013 registrations carry provenance). A word like 'flux' or 'apex' concentrates all three — which is why word-quads anchor the top of the band.
Follower counts barely matter at this tier. You're buying the name, not the audience; audiences can be rebuilt, four clean letters cannot.
Buying one
The safety rules are the same as any high-value handle: verified control, invoiced payment, live transfer, immediate credential change — the complete checklist is in our buying guide.
Our 4-letter Instagram inventory is live with fixed prices, and the off-market desk covers anything you don't see listed.
